Colors and AutoCADD

May 31- 2012
Today's thing -  Today I learned a trick in AutoCADD to make only the colors I want print out, and the rest print out in black and white.  Honestly, it's the sort of thing I should have learned 14 years ago when I started working in CADD, but my professor and I had an adversarial relationship and I might not have been listening. I've gotten along without it for 14 years pretty well, so I'm not too worried.

I feel kind of cheated today.  It's my second day of posting and I'm already going to bore all of my readers.

Today I Learned... Start and Gel Nails

Why I'm starting this blog can be a story for another day. Today we talk about what you can expect.

1) I am not a great writer. I'm not even a good writer. The English language and all its many rules and tricks do not come easily to me, nor do they stay there once I learn them. Punctuation is my enemy. Maybe during the course of the blog I can learn a thing or two about punctuation. Maybe.

2) I'm in the interior design/architecture/construction field, so some of my learned items may come from that arena. In fact, many might. I won't bore you with the insul-quilt trick I picked up for working in a return air plenum, but you may learn a thing or two about why the ADA is important and why certain things are designed the way they are for people with handicaps.

3) Hopefully I will be able to have 1 new thing a day presented to me so I learn it spontaneously, but if that doesn't happen expect that I'll read the internet (probably wikipedia) until one thing sparks my interest and I decide to write about that.

4) My boyfriend may not like this. I can picture it now. He says something. I don't believe it and go to look it up. He says, "what, you're going to look it up? I know I'm right." I say, "It's not that I don't believe you. I'm learning it for my blog!" and feign innocence over fact checking him.

5) Hopefully these will be interesting to more than just myself. Maybe you'll learn something. Maybe you won't and you'll just read to go, "you didn't know that already? I did."

May 30- 2012
Today's thing - Someone the other day asked me if gel nails were okay for me to get because of the UV light that is used to cook the polish on. While I'd always wondered, I never wanted to know the answer because I love my gel manicures. Finally I had to look it up. Am I killing the skin on my hands with the UV light? Yes, I am - according to just about every website on the internet. I can try putting sunscreen on my hands before they start applying the polish or go back to regular manicures.  Regular manicures never last and so I don't get them.  I'm going to miss my pretty nails.
